Title:
ULTRA-MAGNETOSTRICTIVE ALLOY WITH EXCELLENT OXIDATION RESISTANCE, AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3697506
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultra-magnetostrictive alloy in which oxidation resistance is improved without deteriorating ultra-magnetostrictive properties and also to provide its manufacturing method.
SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the ultra-magnetostrictive alloy comprises steps of preparing a powder mixture in which chromium is substituted for a part of iron among the elements constituting the ultra-magnetostrictive alloy and homogeneous mixing is done using a mechanical alloying method, preparing a compact by compacting the above powder mixture while controlling temperature and pressure and heat-treating the compact to carry out densification. The resultant product is also provided. Accordingly, the ultra- magnetostrictive alloy having oxidation resistance without deteriorating ultra- magnetostrictive properties can be manufactured and provided.
