To provide a means for improving the function of a puncture by indicating a limit of a puncturable direction of a bioptic needle.
The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus is composed of an ultrasonic endoscope 2, an ultrasonic diagnostic signal processing unit 11 and a monitor 12, which obtains an ultrasonic diagnostic image by sending and receiving ultrasonic signals to and from a specimen in a body cavity. The ultrasonic endoscope 2 has an insertion section to be inserted in the body cavity, a processing section 22 and a connection code 23. A section 3 for the bioptic needle's advance and retreat is used for moving the bioptic needle 4 back-and-forth. The bioptic needle 4 is inserted into an insertion section 21 of the ultrasonic endoscope 2 and a tip of the needle projects from an exit of the bioptic needle 26 of the forefront 24 of the insertion section 21 so that the specimen is punctured. The monitor 12 displays the bioptic needle 4 on the ultrasonic diagnostic image. The ultrasonic diagnostic signal processing unit 11 is a means for overlapping the display of the advancement limit of the puncturable direction of the bioptic needle 4 on the monitor 12 for ultrasonic diagnostic images.
