Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a cross-sectional image of high quality by correcting non uniformity of sonic velocities with high accuracy, by a method in which a plurality of element arrays are applied, such that the number of elements in an element array remote from an intersection with a scanning line is larger than in an element array near the intersection with the scanning line, and respective input signals applied by the elements in each element array are added to each other.
CONSTITUTION: A ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus comprises a plurality of electroacoustic transducer elements 1 for radiating ultrasonic waves into a subject and receiving the reflected waves from the subject. Each of the input signals applied by the elements 1 is delayed in a receiving section 3 to thereby phase the input signals with each other. After the phasing procedure, the input signals are added to each other in an adding section 4 and the resultant added signal is converted into a luminance signal, which is displayed in a displaying section 5. Also, after the phasing procedure in the receiving section 3, the respective input signals of the electroacoustic transducer elements 1 corresponding to a certain depth of the subject are applied to a gate 6 as time-lag detecting areas. The input signals applied to the gate 6 are divided into a plurality of element arrays in an element array dividing section 9. In each element array, the input signals are added to each other, and a time lag is detected from the added signal in each element array in a time-lag detecting section 7. On the basis of the detected time lag, the delayed amount of each input signal is corrected in a delayed amount controller 8.
