PURPOSE: To increase the wide use and to reduce the size by accomplishing the mounting and demounting operations of a holding mechanism to a guide rail with the use of a ratchet mechanism combined with a spring thereby to make the mounting and demounting operations possible by a single action.
CONSTITUTION: A flaw detector turns a pinion, which is attached coaxially with a roller 11A, with the aid of a motor mounted in a drive device 1 are is made to run on a rack 7 attached to a guide rail 6 which in turn is attached to a piping, thereby to effect the peripheral scanning operation. An arm 3 is moved by another motor to effect the axial scanning operations. In order to mount the drive device 1 on the guide rail 6, an arm 13 is pushed onto the guide rail 6 to push the roller 12 attached to the leading end thereof onto the inclined portion 21 of the guide rail 6 so that the guide rail 6 may be held in the rollers 11A and 11B and by the roller 12. In case the drive device 1 is removed from the guide rail 6, a lever 15 is pushed to the drive device 1. Then, the pawl at the leading end of the lever 15 is disengaged from a ratchet 17 so that the arm 13 is opened by the force of the spring 14 to allow the roller 12 to be removed from the inclined surface 21.
