Abstract:
To prevent erroneous detection when ultrasonically detecting a flaw existing inside a material to be flaw-detected.SOLUTION: A flaw detector 400 sets a flaw detection range so that at least parts of flaw detection ranges of at least two types of flaw detection are overlaid with each other, out of vertical flaw detection, + oblique angle flaw detection and - oblique angle flaw detection that are done by ultrasonic probes different from each other. The flaw detector 400 derives: an echo intensity-position relationship when vertical flaw detection is done; an echo intensity-position relationship when + oblique angle flaw detection is done in a range overlapped by the flaw detection range of the vertical flaw detection; and an echo intensity-position relationship when - oblique angle flaw detection is done in a range overlapped by the flaw detection range of the vertical flaw detection. The flaw detector 400 determines, when the maximum echo intensity exceeds a threshold at the same position in the longitudinal direction of square steel M in two or more echo intensity-position relationships out of the three echo intensity-position relationships, that the steel has a flaw at the position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
