PURPOSE: To simplify an apparatus and the like by selectively exciting either one of a pair of vibrators.

CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic motor is composed by disposing a common electrode 12c between a pair of piezoelectric vibrators 10a and 10b in a sandwich structure state, disposing first and second electrodes 12a and 12b on opposed faces of the electrodes 12c, and further providing a motion extraction unit 20, a switch mechanism 16 and a single-phase power source 18. The vibrator 10 is so formed as to have a length and a thickness that a longitudinal wave coincides with a resonance frequency of a bending wave generated therewith. The vibrators 10a-10b are selectively excited to forward or reversely turn the moving direction of the unit 20.
