Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve beam convergence in an elevation direction corresponding to the variable control of a transmitting-receiving aperture in an ultrasonic probe.
SOLUTION: An acoustic lens 12 has such a form that the radius of curvature thereof is reduced from the central part 12A thereof in an array direction to both end parts 12B thereof. The size of the transmitting-receiving aperture is controlled by accompanying the variable control of focus depth but the whole converging action of the acoustic lens 12 is also variably controlled.
