Title:
ULTRASONIC PROBE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01162145
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To achieve a flaw detection by vertical and skew beams simultaneously, by arranging vibrators in a double split structure so that the vibrators are used as divided in two for vertical beam operation while two vibrators sandwiching a sound shielding plate are electrically connected in parallel to create a single detection characteristic for angle beam operation. CONSTITUTION:Vibrators 3-8 are arranged in a double split structure. For angle beam operation, two each of vibrators 5, 6, 7 and 8 are electrically connected together in parallel to create a single detection characteristic with simultaneous transmission and reception. For vertical beam operation, the vibrators 3 and 4 are normally divided into two pairs, one for transmission as vibrator 3 and the other for reception as vibrator 4. Sound fields of the vibrators 5-8 for angle beam operation are synthesized when the two vibrators are vibrated individually. The vibrators are arranged at the center as much as possible and the range thereof is adjusted to a proper value according to the frequency of the vibrators. When one vibrator is excited, directivity is regulated to an appropriate expanse thereby optimizing the directivity of a synthetic sound field when two vibrators are excited.
