PURPOSE: To provide an umbrella with an illuminating device, by which a person with the umbrella up can be discriminated easily and surely even from a distance in a dark road at night in the rain.

CONSTITUTION: A dry cell is installed as a power supply in the interior of a grip part 12 of an umbrella 11. A switch 17 is provided on the upper part of the grip part 12, a light emitting lens 18 is provided on the upside of the switch 17, and further an electric lamp as a light source is disposed in the center of the inside of the light emitting lens 18. A light emitting lens 21 is provided also on an end part of a handle part 13 that is projected upward from the umbrella cloth part 14. An acrylic rod as a light guide member is disposed in the interior of the handle part 13, the base end surface thereof is brought into contact with the electric lamp, and further the forward end part thereof is inserted into the light emitting lens 21 to adhere closely to the inner peripheral surface of the light emitting lens 21. As both the forward end part and the base end part of the shaft handle 15 of the umbrella 11 emit light, even if a pedestrian puts up the umbrella obliquely, either the base end part or the forward end part can be discriminated, and a person with the umbrella up can be discriminated easily and surely from both the front and the rear by a driver of a car in the night.
