Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide underground joint type shield machines whose manufacturing cost can be reduced by reducing the length of the receiving shield machine, and simplifying its structure and to provide an underground joining method.
SOLUTION: The inner barrel 11 of a first shield machine 1A is fixed to an outer barrel 10 and each shield jack 7 is fixed to the outer barrel 10. A bulkhead member 12 is fixed to the inner barrel 11 and cutter discs 3, 60 are brought close to each other in an opposite relationship. Next, in the first shield machine 1A each shield jack 7 is connected to the inner barrel 11 and removed from a ring web 32, and then each fixing member 30 is removed while each shield jack 7 is held extended; then each shield jack 7 is contracted and the cutter disc 3, the inner barrel 11 and the bulkhead member 12 are moved backward to fit the cutter disc 60 of a second shield machine 1B into the front end portion of the outer barrel 10.
