PURPOSE: To realize rolling of an H-shape steel with min. mill constitution by disposing edging rolls which are adjustable in roll gap during rolling and are non-driven to the inlet and outlet sides of rolling rolls of a universal roughing mill.
CONSTITUTION: The universal roughing mill 10 is provided with the edging rolls 14, 15 which are adjustable in the roll gap during rolling and are non-driven on the inlet side and outlet side of the rolling rolls consisting of a horizontal roll pair 11 and a vertical roll pair 2. This rolling mill 10 makes use of the driving force of the rolls 13 to push the H-shape steel in the direction of the rolls 14, 15 from the rolls 13 and to pull the same in the direction of the rolls 13 from the rolls 14, 15, thereby edging the H-shape steel. The steel is rolled on the outlet side of the rolls 13 in the section where the rolling on the inlet side thereof is not possible and the steel is rolled on the inlet side in the section where the rolling on the outlet side is not possible, respectively.
