PURPOSE: To provide an upper structure of car body which can reduce the number of part items, improve the coupling work efficiency, reduce the cost weight of a vehicle, and besides can enlarge the space under the foot of an occupant, and further never causes electrolytic corrosion even if dissimilar metals are coupled with each other.

CONSTITUTION: A waist member 12 made by extrusion molding of aluminum is bonded to the in-cabin side face above the body side panel 1 made in the shape of closed section by the extrusion molding of aluminum, and the bottom of the pillar 7 made by the extrusion molding of aluminum is inserted into the pillar insertion hole 12 made in the waist member 12, and the bottom of this pillar 7 is bonded to both, in condition that it is nipped between the waist member 12 and the body side panel 1.
