To obtain polymerization curable materials useful as additives to skeletal cements, dental filling agents or the like as medical and dental materials with reduced shrinkage by polymerizing a specific polymerizble oxetane derivative with a polymerization initiator such as a sulfonium salt.
A polymerizable oxetane compound represented by formula I [wherein R1 is H or 1-10C alkyl; and R2 is H, (substituted) alkyl, (substituted) aryl, 1-10C alkanoyl or aroyl], formula II {wherein R3 is a group of the formula: Si(R4)3. [wherein R4 is (substituted) 1-20C alkyl, (substituted) aryl or 1-10C oxyalkyl]; and n is 0 or 1}, formula III (wherein A is alkylene, perfluoroalkylene, arylene or the like; and m is 0 or 1) or formula IV [wherein B is a (substituted)trivalent hydrocarbon, a trivalent phosphate residue, a group of the formula: (CONH)3Z (wherein Z is a trivalent aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon) or the like] is mixed with a sulfonium salt, an ioclonium salt or the like as the polymerization initiator and, if necessary, further mixed with a radical polymerization initator and a methacrylate ester or the like to obtain a polymerization curable material.
