A vacuum cleaner equipped with an electric air blower consisting of a motor and a centrifugal impeller in the main body of the vacuum cleaner, uses such an electric air blower that the coefficient of discharge e sought by formula e=Q/(60.π.D2.b2.u2) falls within the range of 0.03-0.05, and also the specific rate Ns sought by formula Ns=(N.Q0.5.H-0.75) is set to the range of 140-180. In this case, Q is air capacity (m3/min), D is the configuration (m) of a centrifugal impeller, b2 is the exit width (m) of the centrifugal impeller, u2 is the convergence (m/min) of the outer periphery of the impeller, N is rotational frequency (r/min) and H is head (m). Power consumption in the maximum air capacity zone of the electric air blower should preferably be about 1K(k).
