Title:
VARIABLE CAM PHASE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2009222025
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a variable cam phase internal combustion engine surely and stably establishing a prescribed cam phase when a hydraulic control valve is lacking.

When the rotation of an engine 39 stops and a determination in step S2 becomes Yes, an engine ECU 20 determines whether prescribed time T1 elapses after engine stop or not in step S7, and shifts to step S3 and repeats processes of steps S4-S6 while the determination is No. Consequently, high cam torque due to the reverse rotation of an intake cam shaft 4 during engine stop acts on CTA 63 and cam phase in start can be easily established even if lock of the rotor 23 and the housing 22 is not completed at the time of engine stop.
