Title:
VARIABLE OPTICAL DELAY LINE ARRAY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3256739
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a variable optical delay line based on new photonic technique functioning as a variable linear increase real time delay array by making a device function as a variable optical linear increase delay line under a specified condition.
SOLUTION: This array is equipped with many smaller mirrors having various different reflectance values 70 to 89 previously regulated, The smaller mirrors are spatially coupled so as to effectively function as one effective mirror 55 having a effectively inclined or spatially changed power reflectance profile 800. Assuming a monochrome plane wave 100 completely made parallel and having wavelength λ0 made perpendicularly incident on the device 2000, the uniform phase distribution 150 of incident wave is converted into a specified phase shift pattern when the mirror 55 is substituted for the device. Thus, the required components, size and weight can be reduced drametically.
