Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform precise automatic parking by preventing the occurrence of dislocation in a traveling locus while minimizing the time required for automatic parking. SOLUTION: This automatic steering device steers front wheels with a steering actuator based on a traveling locus stored in advance as a relation of the turning angle θref of a steering wheel relative to the traveling distance X of a vehicle. The limited vehicle speed VL1M decreasing with an increase in the turning angle θref is set in advance, and warning is generated for a driver, or the vehicle is automatically controlled so that actual vehicle speed may not exceed the limited vehicle speed VL1M. It is thus possible to prevent the time required for automatic parking from increasing due to the limit on higher vehicle speed than it needs while permitting automatic parking to be performed precisely by preventing the occurrence of dislocation in the traveling locus due to excessive vehicle speed.
