The on-vehicle television recording and reproducing apparatus selects the reproducing method corresponding to the travel state of the vehicle and the kind of contents, provided with: a content recording and reproducing means 82 reproducing video and audio contents having been recorded while recording video and audio contents of a television broadcast; a travel monitoring means 83 for the vehicle; a content kind detecting means 84 of detecting the kind of video and audio contents; and a reproduction control means 86 of recording video and audio contents while inhibiting a television broadcast from being displayed as video during the travel of the vehicle, and reproducing the video and audio contents having been recorded by a reproducing method selected by a reproducing method selecting means 85 while continuously recording the video and audio contents during a stop of the vehicle according to the monitoring result of the travel monitoring means 83 and the detection result of the content kind detecting means 84.
