PURPOSE: To obtain a screen without glare, by suppressing automatically the velocity modulation or stopping it when a local frequency of a tuner is shifted from a normal tuning point.

CONSTITUTION: Zener diodes 26, 28 are connected to collectors of transistor (TRs) 20, 21 of an AFC voltage discriminating circuit 9. The voltage of the upper limit vlaue AFC-H and the lower limit value AFC-L of the local frequency versus AFC voltage characteristic of the circuit 9 are normerized. When the local frequency of the tuner is within a range between the values AFC-H and the AFC-L, an amplifier section 4 of the velocity moldulation circuit performs normal operation. If the local frequency exists at the outside of the limits, the amplifier section 4 controls or suppresses the velocity modulation.
