The surface roughness thereof is adjusted to Rmax <50. The vertically magnetized rigid disk which has the durability to substantially withstand the recording and reproducing by contact with the magnetic head, obviates the generation of a head crash, etc. and can provide the high resolving power possessed by the disk itself to the max. extent is thus obtd.
