Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable detection of a leakage voltage even during the operation, by arranging a leakage voltage detection means in which outputs from a pair of piezo-electric elements for detection provided on vibrator are combined to cancel a Coriolis power output component. CONSTITUTION:When a drive current flows through a piezo-electric element 3 for driving, vibration pieces 2 of a vibrator 1 vibrate longitudinally in a direction (y) in a drive side vibration mode as indicated by the solid arrow. Here, when an angular velocity about a z axis is applied to a vibration gyroscope, the vibrator 1 vibrates in a detection side vibration mode as indicated by the arrow of the broken line by a Coriolis force generated longitudinally in a direction (x). This vibration is taken as parallel outputs from upper two piezo-electric elements 3 for detection to detect a Coriolis force output vc. On the other hand, in the parallel outputs from one pair of piezo-electric elements 3 for detection, one upper and the other lower, on the same side of the vibrator 1, an output component by the Coriolis force is canceled as displacements of the vibrator 2 are opposite in phase. Thus, a leakage voltage output vd alone can be obtained even when an angular velocity is added.
