A moving member of a liner motor is provided with supporting coils 107 wound independently for each outer yoke 104 for controlling the position of the piston 102 in the radial direction, the piston 102 is constituted of an inner yoke 102a, a main magnet 102b, and a side magnet 102c, and current flowing to the supporting coil 107 is controlled. Thereby, suction force acting on the inner yoke 102a is adjusted, and the piston 102 and the cylinder 103 are maintained in a non-contact state while securing a gap between the piston 102 and the cylinder 103.
