In the content generating apparatus of the embodiment, a second video content is generated from a first video content to which a first key ID is imparted, and a first or second video recording section is designated as a destination to which a second video content is recorded. If the first video recording section is designated, the first key ID is imparted in the second video content and recorded in the first video recording section together with the first video content. And, if the second video recording section is designated, a second key ID is imparted in the second video content and recorded in the second video recording section. The first video content, to which the first key ID is imparted, is recorded in the first video recording section.
