PURPOSE: To make the operability excellent by turning off both video transmission and reception at the start point of a communication and starting the video transmission by the 1st operation of a video reception button after the start of the communication.
CONSTITUTION: A network interface 8 controls the setting and release of a communication line to a communication party and outputs a communication line setting end display signal when the communication line is set. A video SW control circuit 7 when detecting the display signal sets a video transmission SW 3 and a video reception SW 4 into video OFF states. The circuit 7 when detecting the operation of a video transmission button 5 or video reception button 6 turns ON the video SW 4 at the same time. A video signal picked up by a camera 1 is sent by said operation and the received video signal is reproduced on a monitor 2. Consequently, the transmission of the video SW 4 can be started only by the operation of the button 5, so the operability is improved.
