PURPOSE: To provide a novel vinylcarboxylic acid deriv. useful as a pesticide for not only sensitive but also resistant pests in all or individual growth stages.

CONSTITUTION: This compd. is represented by formula I [wherein R1 is (halo) 3-8C cycloalkyl, (halo) 3-8C cycloalkyl-1-6C alkyl, Si(R3)3, SR4, SO2R6 or COR9; R2 is halgen, 1-4C alkyl or CF3; (n) is 0-2; R12 is H or (substd.) 1-10C alkyl; X is F or Cl; Y is H, F or methyl; (m) is an odd number of 1-11; R3 is (halo) 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy or phenyl; R4 is (substd.) aryl or (substd.) heteroaryl; R6 is 1-10C alkyl, 2-6C alkenyl 1-20C alkoxy, 1-4C alkylthio, aryl, aryloxy or the like; and R9 is OH, 1-10C alkyl, 2-6C alkenyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl, aryl or the like], for example, 6,6-difluoro-5-hexenic acid N-(4-trimethylsilylphenyl)amide. The compd. is obtained by reacting a compd. represented by formula II and a compd. represented by formula III.
