To provide a photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material capable of recording an image in the visible light region and capable of forming a high contrast image having good surface whiteness and to provide an image recording method and a visible light polymerizable composition used in the method.
The photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material has a photosensitive and heat sensitive recording layer containing a color forming component A housed in heat responsive microcapsules and at least a substantially colorless compound B having a polymerizable group and a moiety which reacts with the color forming component A and forms a color in the same molecule, a compound selected from the group consisting of a visible light absorbing dye, an organic borate compound and a compound selected from the group comprising phthalic esters, aliphatic dibasic acid esters, chlorinated paraffins, epoxy compounds, phosphoric esters, trimellitic esters, sulfonamide compounds, amide compounds and hydrocarbon compounds at the outside of the microcapsules.
