PURPOSE: To enable washing and drying in a saved space by covering the top portion of a drying basket with a cover at the time of closing the cover to from a drying chamber and connecting the discharge port of a drying unit to the drying chamber.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of drying after finishing dehydration, small clothing such as underwear, etc., to be dried is placed on the inner bottom portion of a drying basket 10, which is placed in a clothing throw-in opening 9. Then, by closing a cover 12, a drying chamber 17 is formed with this cover 12 and the drying basket 10. A hot blast from a drying unit 13 is introduced into this drying chamber 17 via a flow-in port 15. Part of flow of this hot blast flows along the recessed portion 16 as show by the arrow A, uniformly flowing in the drying chamber 17. Air after carrying out drying flows out into a space between a water receiving vessel 2 and a washing machine body 1 via the holes 10a of the drying basket 10 as shown by the arrows B, finally being exhausted from an exhaust port 18 which is opened on the lower portion of the washing machine body 1.
