The washing machine comprises a washing tub 2 with an openable/closable door 7 on the front face, a rotary tub 3 rotatably held inside the washing tub 2, and the lamp 8. The lamp 8 comprises a transparent inner receptacle 12 with a light emitting diode 13 stored inside and an outer receptacle 11 with the inner receptacle 12 stored inside. The lamp 8 is disposed on the front side wall 2a of the washing tub 2 around the lower part of the door 7 for illuminating the inner bottom of the rotary tub 3. The laundry can be securely prevented from being left by the lighting from near the laundry, and the function of the lamp 8 can be retained even if the outer receptacle 11 is damaged since the lamp 8 has the double waterproofing structure.
