PURPOSE: To obtain a waste gas purification material capable of efficiently reducing and removing NOx from waste combustion gas contg. NOx and more than the theoretical amt. of oxygen reacting with CO, H2 and unburnt components of hydrocarbons and to provide a method for purifying waste gas.
CONSTITUTION: This waste gas purification material consists of a 1st catalyst disposed on the waste gas inflow side and a 2nd catalyst disposed on the waste gas outflow side. The 1st catalyst is obtd. by making Ag and a compd. of at least one kind of element selected from among W, V, Mo, Mn, Nb and Ta carried on a porous inorg. oxide. The 2nd catalyst is obtd. by making one or more kinds of elements selected from among Ag, Cu and Ni and/or their compds. and one or more kinds of elements selected from among rare earth elements and alkali metallic elements as active seeds carried on a porous inorg. oxide.
