PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment agent capable of giving wall paper with properties equivalent to those of vinyl chloride-based wall paper.
SOLUTION: This water-based surface treatment agent for wall paper comprises a reactive silicone compound and polyvinyl alcohol as the active ingredients. The other objective wall paper comprises a sheetlike or filmy base for wall paper and a coating layer made from the above agent.
