Abstract:
PURPOSE:To lessen frictional loss of an internal combustion engine by a method in which a thermostat valve by which opening or closing the bypass side flow path is to be performed is provided to an oil cooler with a bypass flow path and the temperature of oil is quickly raised during the warming-up operation. CONSTITUTION:The first thermostat valve 1 is provided with a cooler element side flow path 3 and a bypass side flow path 5. The second thermostat valve 2 is provided with a flow path 6 and a bypass flow path 4. During the warming-up operation, the flow paths 5 and 6 are closed, and oil is flowed to the cooler element side flow path 3. Since the temperature rise rate of the cooling water of engine is higher than that of oil, the oil cooler is operated as an oil heater. The viscosity of oil can be lowered, the frictional loss of engine can be lessened, and therefore, the efficiency of the engine can be enhanced.
