Abstract:

To provide an economical, simple and industrially excellent method for producing a biaryl derivative using an aryl halide or aryl triflate and an arylboronic acid derivative in high yield, with such advantages that the catalyst and the product can be easily separated in such a simple operation as washing with water and the catalyst can be easily prepared and is effective with its extremely minute amount of use.

A method for producing a new water-soluble alkylphosphine derivative from the corresponding alkylphosphine derivative and a hydroxy-functional lactone such as δ-gluconolactone is provided. A palladium complex and a nickel complex each with the water-soluble alkylphosphine derivative as a ligand are provided respectively. The method for producing the biaryl derivative comprises carrying out a reaction between an aryl halide or aryl triflate and the arylboronic acid derivative using the complex as the catalyst.
