NEW MATERIAL: 2-substiuted N,N'-bis(D-gluconyl)-propane-1,3-diamine represented by the formula [wherein R1 and R2 are H, (substituted)alkyl, (substituted)cycloalkyl or (substituted) aryl but are not H at the same time and x and y are 3-6].
EXAMPLE: 2,2-(Dihexyl)-N,N'-bis(D-ribonyl)-propane-1,3-diamine.
USE: This new material is a water-soluble surface active compd. and has effect for markedly lowering surface tension even in low concn. to form a micelle and is photochemically inactive and especially useful in the production of a photographic material.
PROCESS: Malononitrile and 1-bromohexane are reacted in the presence of sodium hydride to obtain 2,2-dihexylpropane-dinitrile which is, in turn, reduced by lihium aluminum hydride to obtain a diamine and this diamine is reacted with 1,4-D- liponolactone to obtain the compd. represented by formula I.
