Abstract:
To provide a water-swellable composition preventing deformation and damage by external force, not requiring the reinforcement of the water-swellable composition with other materials, and facilitating the processing to various kinds of shapes.
The water-swellable composition comprises 5-90 pts.mass water-swellable clay mineral, 5-30 pts.mass asphalt, 3-30 pts.mass elasticity-imparting agent and 5-40 pts.mass plasticizer. The water-swellable clay mineral is selected from bentonite, smectite and swellable mica, and the elasticity-imparting agent is a thermoplastic elastomer.
