Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an economical and inexpensive water treatment agent especially excellent in the sterilizing effect of Legionella bacteria in minute concn. by adding a halocyanoacetamide derivative and a cationic polymer represented by specific general formulae as effective components respectively.

CONSTITUTION: This water treatment agent is consituted by adding a halocyanoacetamide derivative represented by general formula I (wherein X is a halogen atom, Y is a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom and R1 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group) and a cationic polymer represented by general formula II or III as effective components. As the halocyanoacetamide derivative represented by the general formula I, dibromoacetamide is disignated. By this constitution, the economical and inexpensive water treatment agent especially excellent in the sterilizing effect of Legionella bacteria in minute concn. is obtained.
