Abstract:

To provide a method of cultivating a watermelon that sweetens the watermelon to the vicinity of the borderline of the skin to sweeten the whole flesh even in early season culture, while avoiding such problems that vine is damaged and nutriment is not sufficiently given to watermelon.

This watermelon cultivating method includes arranging a heat reserving container A1 which has a cap 12f or a cover 12 to be placed to surround a watermelon fruit K, and a heating means for heating the inside of the reserving container A1, performing heating with the heating means 5 by closing the cap 12f or the cover 12 of the heat reserving container A1 from evening to early morning of next day, and stopping heating with the heating means 5 by removing the cap 12f or the cover 12 in sunshine time of daytime. The heat reserving container A1 is set with a slit 12c which extends up and down so as to make vine T freely move with growth of the fruit K.
