PURPOSE: To permit efficient function in wider band for microwave by making other surface of wave absorbing layer of a wave absorber made by joining a metallic plate to one surface of the wave absorbing layer a rugged surface consisting of recessed parts and projected parts of nearly the same area.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic plate 20 is joined to one surface of a wave absorbing layer 10 formed by dispersing 0.15∼0.35 volume ratio of ferrite and 0.1∼0.25 carbonyl iron in rubber or plastics, and a rugged surface is formed by projected parts 10a and recessed parts 10b on the other surface. Electromagnetic wave is projected on this rugged surface. The projected part 10a and recessed part 10b are square of the same area and disposed in alternating lattice laterally and longitudinally. When the depth Δd of the recessed part 10b to the projected part 10a is increased, center frequency can be shifted to higher side while accompanied by widening of band width at reflection loss of 20 dB.
