Title:
WAVE POWER DRIVEN MACHINERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07229470
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simplify the structure of machinery by making a ratchet mechanism so as to be rotated and thereby to drive a power source via a pinion with the ascension or rotation of a double-sided rack by means of a float in the case where it serves as a power source or the like in a power plant and a factory by utilizing wave power.

CONSTITUTION: When waves come on in a state that a float 2 is kept afloat on the water and supported as being free of vertical motions, so a sea level protuberates and thereby the float 2 goes upward. If this float 2 goes up, a double sided rack 1 integrally installed in an upper part of this float is also made to rise upward, and with the ascension of this rack 1, a pinion 14a in mesh with it rotates counterclockwise, therefore another pinion 14b rotates clockwise. With rotation of the pinion 14a, a pawl 16a attached to the side is engaged with a ratchet 17a, making it rotate, whereby a generator 20 and a flywheel 21 both are rotated via a turning shaft 13a and thus power generation is carried out. On the other hand, rotation of the pinion 14b is not transmitted to another turning shaft 13b at all, but at the time of the float 2 going down, this turning shaft 13b is rotated and likewise the generator 20 is driven in this way.
