PURPOSE: To elongate the service life of the title element and, at the same time, to improve the band reduction ratio of the element by using a pair of facing etalon plates as reflecting surfaces which are parallel with each other and partially transmit laser light and, at the same time, specifying the interval between the reflecting surfaces and reflectivity of the reflecting surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of etalon plates 1a and 1b are faced to each other in a parallel state and the facing surfaces of the plates 1a and 1b are used as reflecting surfaces 3, with the external surfaces of the plates 1a and 1b opposite to the facing surfaces 3 being used as laser light incident surfaces 4. The interval (d) between the reflecting surfaces 3 is set to 90-110μm for rough adjustment and 760-780μm for fine adjustment. In addition the reflectivity of the reflecting surfaces 3 is set to 65-70% for rough adjustment and 70-80% for fine adjustment. Therefore, a wavelength band reduction element which has high band reducing efficiency and a long service life can be obtained.
