To provide a wavelength conversion element, a wavelength conversion device, a light source device, a projector, and a wavelength conversion element production method.SOLUTION: The wavelength conversion element comprises: a substrate having a first face and a protrusion protruding from the first face; a wavelength conversion layer that receives light of a first wavelength band and, in response thereto, emits light of a second wavelength band longer in wavelength than the first wavelength band; and an adhesion layer to bond the wavelength conversion layer to the substrate.
