Title:
WAVELENGTH SELECTIVITY ADDING-DROPPING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3662754
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for a wavelength division-multiplexed optical communication network of an independent transmission form by separating identified spectrum components from another spectrum component at the time of dropping through the use of a single optical switch of (1×1) or (2×2) singly or incombination with another optical switch.
SOLUTION: A wavelength selectivity adding-dropping multiplexer(WSADM) receives a WDM signal 2 with N-number of spectrum components (namely wavelength) λ1-λN and removes (namely drops) a first selected spectrum component λ1 from these plural spectrum components. In addition, a second selected spectrum component N+1 is added to these plural spectrum component. In case when a first spectrum component λ1 is dropped, the second spectrum N+1 is added for exchanging this dropped spectrum component. The spectrum components can be added or dropped.
