Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arbitrarily change the corresponding property between the frequency and oscillation wavelength of a clock signal.
SOLUTION: In the resonator of a wavelength tunable mode synchronous laser to which the clock signal corresponding to a prescribed wavelength is inputted, an array waveguide grating that generates output signals of oscillation wavelengths each of which has an independent propagation delay at arbitrary wavelength intervals not relying upon the wavelength corresponding to the clock signal is provided. A transmitter which generates a transmitting signal having a fixed transmission rate by setting the frequency of the clock signal of the synchronous laser sufficiently higher than the transmission rate and a wavelength converter are constituted. The wavelength converter the output wavelength of which is set by extracting the clock signal of the laser from an inputted information signal and a wavelength router are constituted. In addition, a transmission system having a receiver that extracts the envelope of the transmitting signals is constituted by using the transmitter and wavelength converter.
