Title:
WEATHER STRIP FOR AUTOMOBILE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01106751
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent high pressure water from entering into the passenger compartment of a vehicle due to deformation of a hollow seal lip of a weather strip at the peripheral edge of a door caused by high pressure water, by forming projections on the inner side surfaces of the seal lip along a direction in which high pressure water enters, so that the forward ends of the projections may abuts against each other. CONSTITUTION:A weather strip 11 integrally formed of sponge rubber is attached at the base 13 thereof to the periphery of a door 12 by means of an adhesive or the like. The weather strip 11 is composed of the attachment base 23, a fall-down preventing lip 14 and an elliptic cross-sectional shape seal lip 15. Projections 19, 20 are formed on the inner side surfaces 18a, 20a of the side walls 18, 20 of the hollow seal lip 15 at inclined positions, along a direction in which high pressure water for washing a vehicle enters. The front ends of both projections 19, 20 face each other with a predetermined gap S therebetween so that they can abut against each other when the seal lip is deformed. With this arrangement the deformation of the hollow seal lip by which pressure water is made to be less, thereby it is possible to prevent high pressure water from entering into the passenger compartment of a vehicle with no hindrance against the opening and closing of the door.
