PURPOSE: To allow easy and accurate setting of weighing conditions or printing information by setting weighing conditions corresponding to an article to be weighed specified based on an image signal and then weighing the article based on the weighing conditions thereby allowing noncontact specification of the article.

CONSTITUTION: Data, imaged by means of an industrial television camera(ITV) 1, of an article 5 to be measured, e.g. a root crop or a fish, for which no mark can be put on is delivered to an image processor 2 where the two-dimensional size of the article 5 is operated and then compared with the prestored data of the article 5 by means of an operating unit 3 thus specifying the article 5. Weighing conditions such as upper and lower limit weights, and print information such as commodity code, name, unit price, date, etc., are read out from a memory for each article and set in a controller 14 or a printer 15. The article 5 transferred to a weighing section B is weighed 13 and a label printed with various commodity data is atuck to an article 5 having correct weight and then the article 5 is delivered onto a carry-out line.
