PURPOSE: To perform automatic welding by a method wherein welding processes are programed and the welder is provided with mechanisms for compensating decreased compression, transmitting signals when compression of a welded pipe arrives at a desired value, locking and buffering the torque wrench.
CONSTITUTION: Each process necessary for welding is programed. A welder is provided with a compensating mechanism 30 for compensating decreased compression, an electric signal transmitting mechanism 90 for transmitting signals when force given to the torque wrench 11, or compression given to the pipe to be welded arrives at an intended value, a lock mechanism 70 for holding the torque wrench at an intended position and a buffering mechanism 50 operating when the torque wrench 11 returns to the original place. In this manner welding operation can be semi-automated.
