Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a wheelchair escalator which can safely stop when the position of the wheelchair on a particular step is abnormal.
CONSTITUTION: A wheelchair escalator comprising a plurality of endlessly coupled steps out of which at least one particular step 1 is provided with a wheelchair mounted thereon includes a signal output means 5 for detecting a position on the particular step 1 where the wheelchair is mounted and outputting a signal if the wheelchair is in a dangerous position and a stop means for stopping the escalator in response to the output of this signal.
