Title:
WIRE ELECTRIC DISCHARGE MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3237895
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform unmanned machining of respective work pieces of various thickness in the shortest time by estimating the thickness of a work piece based on information such as electric discharge frequency and relative moving speed between a wire electrode and a work piece, and computing the optimum electric discharge period.
CONSTITUTION: While relatively moving a wire electrode and a work piece by a relative moving means F, pulsative voltage is impressed between the wire electrode and the work piece by an electric discharge control means G so as to machine the work piece, based on the discharge period set by a machining condition setting means C. During the machining, thickness of the work piece is estimated by a thickness estimating means H, based on information concerning the discharge frequency detected by an electric discharge frequency detecting means I, the relative moving speed, and the work piece. The optimum discharge period against the work piece is computed by an electric discharge period computing means E, based on the estimated thickness and the machining condition set at this time, and the discharge period of pulsative voltage impressed by the discharge control means G is changed following to this discharge period.
