The zoom lens includes, in the order from the object side, a first lens unit having negative refractive power, a second lens unit having positive refractive power and a third lens unit having refractive force, wherein during zooming from the wide angle end to the telephoto end, the distance between the first lens unit and the second lens unit decreases and the distance between the second lens unit and the third lens unit changes. The first lens unit includes, in the order from the object side, a first lens which is a negative lens and a second lens, which is a positive lens, wherein the negative lens and the positive lens meet the following conditional expressions (1), (2), (3).
