Abstract:
To provide a vehicle body capable of suppressing an increase in the cost required for stamping a vehicle identification number while using a steel plate with high hardness for a cross member.SOLUTION: A vehicle body includes a cross member and a name plate. The cross member is provided on a floor panel and has a hole therein. The name plate is jointed to the inner surface of the cross member and is exposed from the hole. The hardness of the name plate is lower than that of a steel plate used for the cross member and a vehicle identification number is punched in an area exposed from the hole of the name plate. The vehicle body can be punched with a vehicle identification number on a name plate with a lower hardness than that of the steel plate of the cross member; therefore, a punching machine with conventional performance can punch a vehicle identification number. It is thus possible to suppress an increase in the cost required for punching a vehicle identification number.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
