PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions of proteins having free thiols, and methods of making and methods of using such the compositions.SOLUTION: Compositions described in this description (for example, liquid compositions containing a protein) have prolonged stability. For example, under pre-selected conditions (for example, upon storage in an airtight container, at a temperature of 2-8°C for a period of 3, 6, 9, 12, or 24 months (or longer in some embodiments)), the protein in the composition retains at least 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 99, or 100% of stability it has had prior to the storage. When used in this description, the stability includes parameters such as a protein structure (for example, minimizing or preventing changes in a protein structure (for example, protein aggregation or protein degradation (for example, fragmentation)) and/or biological activity of the protein (for example, ability to convert a substrate into a product).SELECTED DRAWING: None
